#5 We should all be doing what we love, at scale – Matt Gottesman
Founding note 5. Part of a series of raw thoughts on how I see the world and why I'm going back to entrepreneurship – while building a personal brand online for the first time in my life.
The best times of my life have been when on top of good health and relationships I've been 200% focused on building something that excites me.
Creating without permissions and executing without degrees for the task at hand.
Not clinging on how things should be done but re-imagining how they could be done.
Building, earning and learning at the same time.
The thing is, I can optimize my sleep, nutrition and exercise.
I can have amazing relationships and people around me.
But if the work I do does not align with my lifestyle and vision, I start dying inside.
For me, there would be quite a many interesting careers and workplaces (filled with amazing and talented people), but I do not see many of them supporting holistically the life I want to live
I see entrepreneurship as the best path to build that life I want, without compromises.
Here is what I want from my work:
It values creativity and demands craft
The work has clear impact and scalable income.
I can decide when, where and who to work with.
The days are spent on building, not meeting.
It does not sacrifice my health, authenticity or relationships.
Work that can be managed in 4 hours a day, but I'd be excited to spend 16 hours on.
This list may seem impossible, ridiculous, or me being delusional of the realities of life.
But I believe that the more delusional I am with my goals, and the better I'm able to trust my gut and execute with intention, the delusions end up becoming reality
by deciding how to direct your focus and attention
by controlling the information you consume
by ruthlessly allocating your time with the goals
by making mistakes, iterating and relentlessly believing in your vision
the reality starts bending your way. It won't come easy, but it was never supposed to be easy.
It is a fact that there are people living my dream lifestyle.
And that is partly due to the increasing leverage an individual has in 2026 thanks to computers and internet. And now with AI, the need for traditional skills and resources to build many types of businesses is decreasing at a rapid rate.
It sometimes feels absolutely surreal when I look at Claude code independently using my computer, autonomously fixing its own errors and talking to other models like Nano Banana to not just create code, but mockups, wireframes & marketing material.
It is a beautiful idea, and very real I think, that you can solve your problems, productize the solutions, sell and serve them to billions on the internet.
Earn based on the value you provide, by being your authentic self.
Wake up every day doing what you love, at scale.
